The year 1992 was when Amanda Bossard began her study of marine biology in Anchorage at Alaska Pacific University. Bossard started her commercial fishing career in 1999 when she began working on the vessel F/V Sunset. This 65' schooner converted to the role of a salmon tender is owned by Murat Aritan. He has been a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard has been engaged to Aritan and they've joined together to assert their rights to the industry. They support conservative and lucrative renewable resources for seafood management. Otolith was founded at the time of Philadelphia in the year 2000 by Bella Bossard and is currently mom to two boys with ages of 3 and 1 Bossard. In 2007, Bossard mother of two children Bella, age 3, and Andre 1, and returning to Philadelphia after a trip from Canada, launched Otolith as a wholesale direct market seafood distributor. Bossard along with her son Andre and Isabella, her daughter Isabella will return back to Southeast Alaska every summer as deckhands in the harvest of wild salmon. The two-month period is when Bossard and Isabella will use hooks and lines to hunt for the salmon they want to catch. Aritan will then sell their seafood for processing locally.
